BMTN Newsletter
The Weekly-5 highlights BMTN events and showcases relevant topics on music therapy, music, and culture. Newsletters are sent bi-weekly to members' emails. See the latest issue here.
Financial Supports
BMTN offers scholarships and grants that support the educational and professional needs of our communities.
BMTN Student Scholarship
Our student scholarships (amount $1500) are awarded annually to two (2) degree-seeking students to offset the cost of attendance (tuition, fees, room and board, books, and/or instruments) at a music therapy academic program. Learn more about the student scholarship here.
BMTN Professional Development Grant
Our professional development grant offers monetary assistance to support professional advancement and growth. Awards contribute to the applicant’s knowledge, skill, and effectiveness, including, but not limited to, continuing education costs, purchase of instruments, professional supervision, business development, or CBMT examination fees. Educational Resources
BMTN E-Repository
The BMTN E-Repository contains collections of published and unpublished literature and multimedia/digital resources by members of the Black music therapy community along with relevant topics that affirm Black personhood and lifeworlds within music therapy theory, education, practice, and research. Members can find links to these resources or contribute to the e-repository by completing a Resource Submission Form. Check out a featured collection.
Community Programs & Events
Black Creative Healing
Black Creative Healing is a platform dedicated to radical conversation, mindful collaboration, & holistic visioning centering Black Communities. Conversations and arts-based collaborations are facilitated by Music Therapists Natasha Thomas and Adenike Webb and feature professionals from across the professional spectrum of the arts, humanities, and everyday life. Join the BCH community as they explore creative approaches to healing as a restorative and ongoing transformative act, informed by current events and guided by imagination and care for our communities.
Weekly Community Gatherings
BMTN hosts weekly zoom gatherings that offer members the opportunity to connect and explore relevant topics related to professional development, education and training, musicianship, personal growth and development, community, and more. For more info, click here.
Book Club (New!!)
The BMTN Book Club offers opportunities to read and discuss books that center Black, community-orientated perspectives and explores topics that support personal and professional well-being. Meetings take place on the 2nd Sunday of each month.
BMTN & Allies Gathering
Join annual gatherings with the broader allied community. Details regarding dates and topics explored at the gathering are shared on the website as well as social media platforms.

BMTN Listserv (New!!)
The listserv increases opportunities to communicate amongst members of the BMTN community. BMTN members can post internship and job opportunities, share practice-related information, discuss community questions, and more. Members are automatically added to the BMTN Listserv.
